Inspiration Photo

This week for the StampTV MIUM challenge, we had a photo for inspiration. I used the black and white flower pot, the flowers and the colours for inspiration. I am also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes and the Mod Squad challenge - Fall Colors. For the Mod Squad challenge we get an extra entry if we have a stenciled background. Here is the photo we had for inspiration:

Here is the card that I came up with:

I started by stenciling the bottom half of the card front to look like the flower pot. I stamped the flower, masked it and added the leaves. I coloured these with some watercolour markers and added the ribbon at the edge of the stenciled area, before matting the card front and adhering it to a white card base. I stamped the sentiment, matted it and popped it up with some foam squares.

Supplies used:

Encouraging Words

The challenge this week on StampTV MIUM is Uplifting Words.

I decided to use a technique that I saw Jennifer McGuire show on her Blog. I used the largest 4 dies in the Scalloped Ovals set and taped them together with washi tape. I picked out 4 shades of pink cardstock and die cut the ovals out of each one. That left me with the 4 'frames' in each colour. I also cut out the largest oval from the front of a white card base.

Using an adhesive sheet, I covered a piece of white cardstock with adhesive and attached it to the back of the die cut front part of the card base. Starting with the darkest shade, I fit the frames onto the adhesive, like a puzzle. I ran it through my cuttlebug to make sure everything was well adhered. This left me with a smooth card front that I could stamp on.

I used my homemade stamp positioner and stamped the cat silhouette. I stamped it three times to make sure I had a nice, solid image. I stamped the sentiment and added the star sequins to finish off the card.

Card Box

Today I made a box to hold cards for the Scor-Pal More than One Score challenge - Bags and Boxes. I am also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Pop it Up.

I started with an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of heavy weight cardstock. Using the Scor-Pal, with the 11" side at the top, I scored at 2" and 6 1/2". With the 8 1/2" side at the top, I scored at 3 1/2" and 5". Then I scored at 1 1/2" only between the two horizontal lines and repeated this at 7".  I cut the score lines that were scored at 2" and 6 1/2" from the edges in to the scored lines at 3 1/2" and 5". This middle section will be the spine of the box. I creased all the folds well. I applied tape to the back side of the bottom strip and folded the ends up and inside the side flaps. I folded and taped the tops of the side flaps down. I cut a triangular piece from the two corners of the back piece before folding it up and taping the two side pieces to the sides of the base.

For the top of the box, I started with a 6 13/16" x 7 5/8" piece of heavy weight cardstock. With the shorter side on top, I scored at 2 5/8" from each side. With the longer side on top, I scored at 1 9/16" from each side.  I cut the score lines from the edge of the short sides into the score line to make two tabs. After creasing all the folds, I folded in the sides and tabs and taped the ends to the tabs.

I decorated the box with tan cardstock and green patterned paper. I added a flower to both sides with some foam squares and some sequins to the sides of the top.

Autumn Card with Twine

Today I made another autumn themed card for two challenges: StampTV MIUM - It's about Twine! and StampTV Kit Addicts group - Fall Card. I am also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Clean and Simple.

This was a quick and easy card to make. I cut 1 1/2" squares of the patterned paper and adhered them to a piece of brown cardstock. I stamped and die cut the sentiment and popped it up with some foam squares. I wrapped the twine around, using the foam squares to help make the pattern and taped it at the back. I attached all this to the card base with some more foam squares.

I used the following supplies:
Gina K. Designs: Give Thanks patterned paper
                             Birthday Blessings stamp set
                             Dark Chocolate ink
Dark Chocolate, Honey Mustard, Ivory cardstock

Masculine Card

I made this card for a few challenges: StampTV MIUM - Masculine; StampTV Kit Addicts - Fall Card; Mod Squad - Lose the Lines (color an image without lines); Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge - Stamp ItSimon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Stamp It.

To make the background, I used a piece of photo paper and my homemade alcohol inks. I made dots of colour on my foam applicator, spayed it with rubbing alcohol and pounced it all over the background. I did this several times until the background was covered. Once it was dry, I attached it to a white card base.

I stamped the sentiment and stitched circle frame and die cut it with a stitched circle die. The stitches line up fairly closely. I cut a brown mat, adhered these together and attached them to the background. I stamped the pumpkin image in a very light yellow and coloured it in with alcohol markers. I cut it out with the coordinating die and popped it up with some foam squares.

I used the following supplies:
Gina K. Designs: Give Thanks stamp set and coordinating dies
                            Dark Chocolate cardstock
Sweet Corn and Dark Chocolate ink

Autumn Resist Card

I made this card for two challenges: StampTV Kit Addicts - Fall Card and the StampTV Release Party Challenge - I Can't Resist this Challenge! I am also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes.

For the embossed resist technique, I stamped the leaves and acorns with VersaMark ink on white cardstock and heat embossed them in clear. I sponged various colours of ink over the cardstock to look like an autumn scene. I rubbed a cloth over the embossed areas to remove any ink that might be sitting on top.

I adhered this panel onto a piece of patterned paper and then to a white card base. I stamped the sentiment and embossed it in black. It shows up better in real life than in the picture. I stamped the acorn and leaf and die cut them before popping them up with foam squares.

I used the following items:
Gina K. Designs: Give Thanks stamp set and matching dies
                             Give Thanks patterned paper
                             White cardstock
Ink: Sweet Corn, Sweet Mango, Red Velvet, Fresh Asparagus, Honey Mustard,                                           Warm Cocoa
VersaMark ink
