Geometric Design

This card was made for two challenges: the Mod Squad Challenge Blog - Geometric (have a geometric shape or shapes) and the Stamp Junkies challenge - Striptease (have an additional strip of cardstock or patterned paper). I am also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes.

I decided to make a geometric background by making crossing lines with a black marker and filling in the shapes with different colours. I used coloured pencils which I smoothed out with a blending stump dipped in mineral spirits. I was going for an ombre look in each area but I don't know if it comes across in the picture.

For the sentiment I used foiling element from the Made With Love StampTV kit. I had planned on adding foil but with so many colours in the background I liked the black sentiment better. I added a strip of yellow cardstock to my card base and wrapped some baker's twine around it, tying it with a bow. I matted both the sentiment and the background before adhering the background and popping up the sentiment with foam squares.

Materials used:
Gina K. Designs: Lemon Drop, Blue Lagoon and Wild Lilac cardstock
Foiling sentiment from Made With Love StampTV kit
Laurentien coloured pencils
Odorless mineral spirits

See-through card

I made this card for the StampTV MIUM challenge - I Can See Clearly Now!!  We had to use acetate or vellum on our card. I am also entering it in Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes.

I decided to use acetate to make a partial see through card front. I started with a piece of white cardstock. I scored it in half and on the inside I stamped the image with Jelly Bean Green ink,   coloured it with alcohol markers and added some Wink of Stella to the flowers. I then stamped the sentiment. For the front of the card, I cut off all except a small part at the top. I attached the acetate and then covered it with a piece of patterned paper. I then measured how far up from the bottom I wanted to reattach cardstock and patterned paper.

Materials used:
Gina K. Designs: Sending Love stamp set and patterned paper pack
Wild Lilac and Jelly Bean Green ink
                          White heavy base weight cardstock
Spectrum Noir alcohol markers: HB2, PL4, CT3, CG1, CG4

Little Box

I made this box for the StampTV Kit Addicts Group challenge - Anything but A2. We could make anything but an A2 size card (4.25" x 5.5"). I am also entering it in a challenge that has ended but counts toward a yearly contest: StampTV MIUM: Show some Love.

This box opens by unhooking the tab from the brad on the left hand side and then both sides open outward. I started with an 8 1/4 x 11 inch piece of white cardstock to make a box that is slightly larger than 2 3/4 inches. I added the cardstock and patterned paper to decorate it. For the tab I stamped the heart image, punched it out and attached it to one side of the top with a brad. I punched a hole in the other side, large enough to go over the brad that was attached to the box on the other side.

This is what it looks like open:

One Stamp Set

This is a card I made for the StampTV MIUM challenge - Main Images. We had to create the background and focal point using the main images from one stamp set.

I decided to make a different sized card. It measures 6" x 3.5". I stamped and embossed the flowers on the card base and the focal image. I coloured them with alcohol markers, added the sentiment to the focal image and matted it. I added some brads before popping it up with some foam squares.

Sympathy Card

This is a card I made for two challenges: StampTV MIUM - With Sympathy and Mod Squad Blog - Hearts and Flowers

I needed a sympathy card this week, and wasn't sure if I would be able to combine the challenges but I think it works.

I used a light pink ink to stencil the hearts onto a piece of white cardstock. On another piece of white cardstock, I stamped the flowers and sentiment. I made a rectangular mat for the image layer by using a square stitched die and partially running it through the machine. Then I moved the die down, matched the sides and ran it through the other way until it reached the previously cut area. I saw this technique on YouTube and it works really well.

I matted the heart layer with a regular piece of black cardstock and ran some ribbon around it. I attached this to a white card base and popped up the focal image with some foam squares.
