Corner Fold Card

The two challenges that I made this card for are the StampTV Kit Addicts Color challenge and the StampTV MIUM Just a Touch challenge. I am also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes.

For the color challenge we were to use the Gina K. Designs colours Jelly Bean Green, Turquoise Sea and Christmas Pine. We could also use neutrals and an accent colour. For the Just a Touch challenge we were to use a touch of red on our cards.

I decided to make a corner fold card. Starting with a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of white cardstock, I scored at 4 1/2" to make my card base. On the front of the card I measured 3" from the top right corner in both directions. I scored between the two points and folded it to the front. I cut a piece of Jelly Bean Green cardstock to fit the front, repeated with a piece of patterned paper and adhered them both to the card base. Then I cut a piece of Jelly Bean Green to fit in the corner and a piece of white cardstock to layer on top. On this piece, I stamped two flowers using masking paper, the flower stems and the sentiment. I coloured in the flowers and sponged around the edge. For the Christmas Pine colour I used the Spectrum Noir Marker that Gina has on her colour match table.

I adhered the corner down with some strong tape and layered on the focal image and mat.

CASEd Card

The MIUM challenge this week on StampTV was to CASE a card made by Karen Hightower. CASE is an acronym for “Copy And Share Everything”. We were to go through Karen's gallery, pick a card that inspired us and make a card that looked similar but with at least two changes. For example you can change colour and stamps used. I CASEd this card:

Happy Birthday

This is my card:

I decided to change the stamps, patterned paper and colour.

I selected my patterned paper and stamps then selected matching Wild Lilac cardstock. I trimmed the patterned paper to just under 1 1/2 inches and matted it with Lemon Drop cardstock.

I placed the patterned paper pieces onto the purple cardstock to see where I wanted to position the sentiment and then stamped it. I removed the patterned paper pieces, stamped the butterflies with Versamark ink and then stamped over the Versamark with white pigment ink offset a bit.

I cut a piece of ribbon, adhered it to the purple cardstock and popped up the patterned paper pieces with some foam squares. I attached this to a white card base and added a few purple rhinestones.

Supplies used:
Gina K. Designs: Lemon Drop and Wild Lilac cardstock
                             Wild Lilac ink
Sending Love patterned paper and stamp set
                             Birthday Blessings stamp set

Wood Grain Release Challenge

This is for the challenge from the Release Party last week. We have to make a Christmas card with a wood-grained look background. Here is what I came up with.

I started with a piece of ivory cardstock, scored it every 3/4", dragged my Warm Cocoa ink pad over and then my Red Velvet ink pad. I embossed with an embossing folder, making sure the image went into the card. I then dragged my Ivory ink pad over the top to bring out the debossed image.

I stamped the holly leaf and sentiment with Perfect Medium, used Pearl Ex Powder to give them colour and cut it out with a die. I stacked it all to see what it would look like and my husband suggested that I draw some green lines on the card base around the background. After I drew the lines I adhered the background and popped up the sentiment layer with foam squares.

Materials used:
Gina K. Designs: Ivory cardstock
Warm Cocoa, Red Velvet and Ivory ink
                             Sentimental Holiday stamp set
Embossing folder from Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine

Die that came with the Evolution Advanced machine
Spectrum Noir alcohol marker: JG1
foam squares from my stash

Tone on Tone

This card is for the StampTV MIUM challenge - Tone on Tone.

I used Sweet Corn ink and stamped the leaf images on Sweet Corn cardstock. I stamped the sentiment on a piece of white cardstock, heat embossed it and cut it out with a die. I popped the sentiment up onto a piece of patterned paper, attached it to the background, adhered the whole thing onto a white card base and added a bow.

Materials used:
Gina K. Designs: Sweet Corn cardstock
Sweet Corn and Red Velvet ink

Inspiration Challenge

This week the challenge on StampTV was to make a card getting inspiration from this photo:

I took my inspiration from the colours and the pumpkins. Here is my card:

I am also entering this in the Mod Squad Challenge - For the Birds.

I decided to use this patterned paper as it has the orange colour and the pumpkins. I used the green cardstock for the accents to bring in the colour of the flower stems. I stamped, coloured and cut out the owl, stamped and cut out the sentiment and layered everything together. I popped up the owl with some foam squares.

Here are the supplies I used:
Gina K. Designs: Give Thanks patterned paper and stamp set
                             Fresh Asparagus and Ivory cardstock
                             matching owl die

Stencilled Background

The final challenge for World Cardmaking Day on StampTV was to use a stencil to make your background. I am also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes.

I stencilled the background using a few colours of ink. I decided to cut off a piece so that I had a place to stamp my sentiment. I added a piece of brown cardstock along the edge and matted the background with the same colour. I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with a sparkly powder. It is hard to take a good picture but I think you can see the sparkle. I used an ivory card base and added a few sequins to finish it off.

I used these supplies:

Gina K. Designs: Ivory, Dark Chocolate and Prickly Pear cardstock
Applemint, Grass Green and Prickly Pear ink
                             Birthday Blessings stamp set
Hampton Art stencil
Versamark ink
mix of Recollections Tinsel Vintage Mahogany and Stampendous Clear Bark embossing powder
sequins

Non Traditional Christmas card

For the third World Cardmaking Day challenge at StampTV, we are to make a Christmas card with non-traditional colors. I am also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes.

I decided to use yellow and purple for my Christmas card. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but once I finished it, I think it came out okay.

I stamped the trees and stars on the yellow cardstock. I die cut the ornament and the top of the ornament, sponged the edge of the ornament and heat embossed the top. I stamped the sentiment, tied a piece of ribbon onto the top of the ornament and attached a bow with a mini Glue Dot. I matted the background and added a strip of cardstock in the middle. I attached the ornament with some foam squares, taped the ribbon to the back of the matted background and adhered it to a white card base.

Here are the supplies I used:

Gina K. Designs: Lemon Drop and Wild Lilac cardstock
                             Wild Lilac ink
                             Sentimental Holiday stamp set
Impression Obsession dies
VersaMark ink
Recollections Gold Tinsel embossing powder
mini Glue Dot
foam squares, ribbon

Foiled Card

This is for the second World Cardmaking Day challenge at StampTV - Use Foil or Embossing Powder. I am also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes.

I decided to make a gate fold card for this challenge. I cut the panels for the sides and used some design adhesives to make the foiled pattern in silver. I used one of the foiling elements from a StampTV kit for the sentiment and foiled it in turquoise. I cut one mat with a postage stamp edge die and then made another square mat. I adhered the matted sentiment with some foam squares onto the left hand side of the gate fold.

These are the supplies I used:

Gina K. Designs: Made with Love StampTV kit foilable sentiment
                             Turquoise Sea cardstock
ColorBox Clear Snap Design Adhesive
Simon Says Stamp postage Stamp Edge Frame die
foam squares
Silver and Turquoise Foil that my husband had in his office stash!

Carved Wood Look

World Cardmaking Day was yesterday, October 1. Gina gave us four challenges on StampTV. This is the first one: Carved Wood technique. I am also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes.

I started with a piece of ivory cardstock and scored it at 1/2 inch intervals. I dragged my Prickly Pear and Early Espresso ink pads over the cardstock and then embossed it with an embossing folder. Then I dragged my white pigment ink pad over the top, being careful not to press too hard. This showed the embossing that was pressed into the cardstock. I matted the background layer and attached it to an ivory card base.

I stamped the sentiment and the flower, cut them out with a die, matted them and used foam squares to attach them to the background.

I threaded some yarn through the button, tied a bow and adhered it with a glue dot.

I used the following supplies:

Gina K. Designs: Ivory and Honey Mustard cardstock
                             Painted Autumn stamp set
                             Prickly Pear ink
Stampin' Up! Peach Parfait, Cajun Craze, Bravo Burgundy, Early Espresso ink
Cuttlebug Paper Lace 2 set embossing folder
Cottage Cuts Stitched Circle dies
Glue Dot
foam squares, button and yarn from my stash

Faux Torn Edge Card

This is a card I made for the StampTV MIUM challenge - Faux Torn Edge. I decided to make it a CAS card so I did the sponging inside the two torn edges. I am also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes.

I tore a piece of paper in two and adhered the two pieces to a piece of white cardstock. I sponged in between with a few different colours and stamped the flowers. I removed the torn paper and stamped the sentiment. A very simple card!

I used the following supplies:
Gina K. Designs: Better with You and Fabulous Frame stamp sets
Stampin' Up! Really Rust, Ruby Red, Only Orange and Cajun Craze ink
